Best gaming Mouse?

I'm in the market for a new mouse and was wondering what is the best mouse for gaming? Logitech Dual Optical? Intellimouse Explorer? Oh yeah, I want optical 🙂 I mostly play CS, Q3A, and a few other games. And yes, I did a search.

Thanks

The logitech dual opticals got nothing on my explorer 3.0. Thats right, guy in room 221! My mouse will whoop yours up!

I like the MS Intellimouse Optical. Same exact precision as an Explorer, with the same number of buttons, but the button placement is better so that it is harder to accidently click the 4th and 5th buttons.

I recently used the dual optical logitech mouse and it tracks great, especially on horrible surfaces. There was a difference between that and my $20 MS optical mouse, but i'm not sure of the diffence between it and the more expensive MS optical mice.

I chose to buy the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 and I couldn't be happier. I've owned versions 1 and 2 and they were both not great trackers. Version 3.0 is bliss.

I have the 3.0 and I love it as well.... and you can get it for like $40 I think now...

I love my MS intellimouse optical.. the 5 button one but not huge like the gray one. i own some ass in Q3 Urban Terror with this thing! anyone know if there is a new and improved model that would be even better?

The logitech dual optical is wonderful! 1600dpi, perfect for games like CS (makes quite a difference i must say) and no balls to clean unlike that boomslang. You won't be disappointed with this little beauty 😉

I dont know the best mouse but I'm using MS Intellimouse Explorer version 2 (I think). It has 2 buttons on the side for your thumb, great for switching last weapon when playing cs.
😀

Logitech Dual Optical is great for gaming remember half the skill is the player not the mouse, however the Logitech Dual optical is a great tracker with its twin optical sensors,I`m still using my old Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel mouse which works great for me.

🙂

I absolutely love my Razer Boomslang 2000 paired with my Surface 1030 mouse pad. Extremely accurate, and better then any optical mouse I've used.

Microsoft Intelli Explorer version 3. Any other optical mouse out there will fail to track the movement of my hand when playing FPS games. This one will never skip, even when I'm doing it on purpose (I can make all my ball mice skip ...).

I'm really liking the Logitech Dual Optical. Besides the performance considerations (1600dpi), I like the fact that this is JUST A MOUSE> although i am stuck with using a mouse for some games, I absolutely hate the mouse as a gaming input device and it was a secondary consideration for me after how it performs its main task as being " the mouse" for all other applications. The Logitech has two buttons and a wheel between. No weird side buttons, which I hate even if they do allow for more versatility.

Also, it looks really cool in a dark room - the sides of the mouse are a transluscent plastic and the red glow of the laser comes through.

Mice I've used for FPS and general gaming in recent history:

Boomslang 2000 (I own three)
MS Intelli Explorer (v1 and 3)
Logitech Mouseman Optical
Logitech Dual Optical USB

The boomslang has the best tracking of any mouse ever, but it's far from perfect, and it's not optical. I don't currently use them.

The MS Intellimouse Explorer 3 and Logitech Dual Optical are by far the best optical mice ever (I'd give a slight edge to the dual just for resolution considerations, but you're unlikely to be able to make either one of them skip). They are also very different in feel - the Logitech is tighter and more solid-feeling, as well as seeming a bit smaller and easir to grip for smaller hand sizes. the shape of the dual USB is a huge improvement over previous Logi designs, where the sloping rear of the mouse would interfere with boomslang-style fingertip mousing... much more ergonomic now in my opinion.

The MS mice has what I feel are "soft" buttons... not as crisp-feeling as Logitechs. I prefer the Logi, but that's entirely subjective - grab them both and see what suits you. And given the size and shape difference one will likely be more comfortable than the other.

Well it's good to see someone has used them all. I really want an optical mouse, unless I like the feel of the Boomslang a lot. I don't think I can find one anywhere locally. Right now I don't know what to think, everyone hear has posted postive things about all three mice. I will have to go and try them out locally sometime today. Thanks for all the info guys.

I like my dual optical Logitech. But one of the most important things to consider is which one feels best in your hand.

I've used both of them and think they're both good choices. Although going to a store and feeling the different mouses is a start, I think you really need to use them to figure out what mouse is best for you. I ran into this problem because when I went into the store, the dual optical felt the best to me. Then when I started using it, I found out that I don't actually hold my hand over the mouse like normal. I just use my fingers to grip the sides and don't even touch the mouse with my palm. I found that ambidextrous mice fit my mousing style the best. I think my favorite mouse of all time is my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical. My second favorite mouse is the plain jane logitech optical (the blue or red ones). It is proven that microsoft mice sport the best optical sensor, but it is really hard to tell the difference between them. You also may want to know that the dual optical doesn't have 1600DPI. The two sensors don't double the DPI, they just make it track better on bad surfaces. The mouse actually decides which sensor has the best reading each time it reads the position. It doesn't combine the readings into one. Some have said how they didn't like the microsoft botton action. It isn't really that the buttons are soft, they just don't travel as long to click. The button action is really a personal opinion, but I feel I can fire a tiny bit fast with the microsoft mice. It is worth mentioning that on my main system I use the plain jane logitech (the main reason is because the beige of the microsoft mouse that I like doesn't match my black PC, in this case function follows form).
