I currently have a Dual Optical Mouse made by Logitech. I am an avid gamer and would like to know what is the best mouse for game play?

Umm...are you asking or telling? Welcome to the forums. In the future you might want to give at least some text to your message, as your subject could be interpreted several ways. Also, it then doesn't seem as much of a demand as a question.

Anyway, I believe if you search this forum you will find several threads devoted to gaming mice. I think that the Logitech cordless MX700 is the reigning king right now, but you might want to check around.

I just can't get used to the different feel of Logitech mice. I like my MS Intellimouse Explorer, it games well for me.

Here is another vote for the MX500/700. I was using the 700 but after I got my Mx500 for $25 from Staples I sold the 700 on egay. I think I actually like the MX500 just a little better.

With the MX700 being wireless, is it as responsive as a corded one? I have went through 3 mouse already, including the Razor Boomslang, trying to find the right comfort and fit. NOT TRUE... I want to get for frags. hehe...

I'd have to agree. I like the MS Optical the best. It's only drawback is that it's relatively fragile and not as durable as the MX500/MX700, which I do own, by the way. The MX500 is bad by any means, but it's just doesn't feel as good in my hands as the Optical. Also, the side buttons are a pain in the ass to get working in games (You have to manually hack the registry with the instructions provided on their website).

Another vote goes out to the MX Series from Logitech.

I have the MX500 and I am perfectly happy with it. It is the best mouse that I have ever used. The optical technology used in this mouse if really nice and it doesn't even skip at all. There are also a ton of additional buttons that are very useful.

If you have a bit more money and want to go cordless, then the MX700 is the perfect mouse to go. It is just as good as a corded mouse.

Btw, if you get any one of these mouses, make sure that you get the latest drivers from logitech's official site. The drivers that came with the mouse have a few bugs in them and won't perform very well in games since the scroll wheel won't work properly.

The MX500 (and probably 300/700) don't track as well as the IE3.0 mice. You can verify this on 3M Precise Mousing Surfaces. I like the build of the MX500 more, however. It's a toss-up as to which I'm going to use more often.

Well I've never tried any wireless mice before though I have to say that the A4Tech WOP-35 is the best corded mouse I've come across, thumb and small finger button + 3 standard and 2 scroll wheels, higher optical resolution meaning more precision and response, it's super ^_^, hmm, speaking of not being able to get 5 buttons working in a lot of games, how? I wonder if there's a way to get both scroll wheels working without them both being used as the same wheel :|

best mouse is razor boomslang, 1000 and 2000 models arent predecessor-sucessor but for players with different style of play, one for fast twitch types, other for slow but precise style. Theyre very hard to find though, so maybe dont quite count for the "available today" part.

Other than that, it is IMHO 100% personal preference between Intellimouse, Explorer, mx300, mx500 and mx700.

Ditch it, my two hit the floor (not in real life, but you get my jist :)) in one month, plus they were all jittery.

i like my intellimouse explorer 3.0 better than the mx500, but i would use the mx700 over my explorer if someone gave me the mx700. the one big problem with the logitech mice, imho, is that the mouseware is not as good as the intellimouse software. i really wish that the wireless microsoft mice were as good as the mx700. i have heard that the bluetooth explorer works well in games, but the shape is too different and uncomfotable for my hand compared to the standard explorer 3.0.
