Currently using VNC over an SSL VPN and it is a DOG!:(

I've seen several alternatives such as Timbuktu, Chicken on a VNC, and remote desktop.

They key is that I need to be able to control the pc over the internet on a PC, and the best solution, ARD, doesn't' do that:(

Worst off ,I am rather new to the platform and do not know how to control most of my apps from the command line since most of them seem to be GUI oriented.

Any opinions on the matter?

What exactly do you want to control? I know that there are instructions out there for setting up a SSH tunnel for streaming itunes over the web, you may be able to adapt those.

Also, take a look at that new Telekinesis thing for the iphone, they may have a desktop client available, and that does give you full remote control IIRC.

Why not just use the terminal and SSH?

Access to my machine has never been a problem via terminal. The thing is sometimes I need to run an app that has little to no CLI docs.

I already stream audio and video from it, and starting batch encoding jobs / checking the process of other tasks etc is on my list of things to do that I apparently cannot do via the CLI
