I want to build a webpage for a class project with DHTML. What is the best place that will host the site for free. Oh yeah, I'm looking for one without 10 popup ads per page ;)

Geocites is ok, but is there anything better?

How long do you need it hosted for? I may be able to hook you up with a free month or so

Well, the domain and hosting are two seperate things. for $8.88/year you would just be paying for the domain (www.xxxxxx.com) but you would need a place to host it, or host it yourself (need a webserver)

Christ.

Don't people's ISPs give them free space anymore?

I get 150megs all together with Comcast(25megs/email address, 6 emails).

Ah, thanks for clearing that up...

Ok, back where I was... Hosting.... I would like to have the site hosted for some time, but thanks for your offer jfall.

I'm on dialup at home, my ISP does give me a free email account, but no webspace to my knowledge.

BZeto,

Can you afford $18 if it includes:

Domain name registration (whateveryouwant.com)
Web hosting for your domain with no pop up ads, no banners, no SPAM, true www.domain.com hosting
E-Mail, webmail, including POP3/IMAP
cPanel control panel
FTP
MySQL/PHP
Perl/CGI

Most likely your ISP's free webspace is http://www.yourisp.com/~username

But for $18/yr you can have 100MB disk space, 1GB bandwidth, www.yourdomain.com, no pop up ads, no ad banners, custom email addresses (5), MySQL/PHP, Perl/CGI, etc.

Do domain name registering sites usually let you change the name if you ever need to without charging you?
