Switching browsers to mozilla would stop a lot of your problems. There is also privoxy and proxomitron, they stop ads, popups, cookies as well.

Proxomitron doesn't let you use the back button anymore though and sometimes frames get messed up...do you have that same problem with it?

I tried pop up stopper from panicware and it seemed to work great. Then I noticed that if I had a browser open and I tried to open another one it would block it like it was a pop up.

I have popup ad filter from meaya software now and it works great. There is a free version you can download.

I had some issues using proxomitron with websites, but not many. Privoxy is what I use now, its cross platform, can be installed onto my linux server and all my local client can connect to it. The minor downfall of privoxy is the heavyness of its blockings. After a few configuration tweaks, its exactly what I want.

Weird. I've never had that problem with using it. I'm really careful what settings to enable though, there are alot that could screw everything up.

With Panicware's Pop-Up Stopper...

If you hold down the SHIFT key when you click on a link it will open in a new window with no problems.

or

If you double click the little red "X" in the system tray it will disable the program ("X" will turn grey).

I knew the second trick, but thanks for the update on the first, it should be a real help.

A friend asked recently and I told him Mozilla. Anyway I doubt he switched so I tried out a ton of them and the one which I seemed to like the best for those using IE is adshield.org Wow, wouldn't you know it..it's free and blocks banners too and there is no limited version trying to get you to shell out $100 for a pro version.

I use AdMuncher AdMuncher. It is free for 60 days afterwhich it needs a reinstall. The benefit of this one is that it can work and modify the code that IE sees so the popops never run like with most programs. It can also modify or restrict pages and remove things like right click dissablers, and it can remove nealy all popups without the need for the address. But it does have limits and some address have to be entered manualy.

Anybody know of such a program that is even more poerfull that will completely dissable all onunload commands, and all automatic popup openings. Meaning that any window.open command would be blocked or would never run unless three is an actual mouse click. AdMuncher can modify scripts but it is limited to the original size of the file. I need a way to add a onclick() requirement to all window.open() requests at either the script on IE level, threfore no unwanted popups, and never will you open a window an find out it is blocked or closed automaticaly by the blocker.

Thanks

No, its free for a trial then you have to buy it, otherwise it's as bad as cracking it and is still considered piracy.

Mozilla, and it really is free. It will open popups that you click to open but won't open ones you don't.
