I usually just use FlightAware, but depending on which airline you're flying, the airline's app may have better info. E.g. the United app shows you "where's this aircraft coming from?" which can give you a hint as to whether your flight will be delayed or on time, before they officially declare it to be. (E.g. if you are taking Flight 123 from ABC to DEF, you can see that the aircraft is flying in to ABC from XYZ, and that that flight left 20 minutes late)
