Best Free MPEG4 Encoder???

I want to compress my P&S camera's AVI files to a DiVX or XVID format (i.e. MPEG4).

What are some good free encoders for AVI to MPEG4?......

AutoGK is an easy way of converting videos to Divx or Xvid.

I use ATI AVIVO converter :! so fast and so good :! well on my computer anyways :!

I now convert all my lan video we record with a sony video camera :! I have to decode craploads of raw video as the cam is connected to a laptop and sit in place where its get an overview of the whole lan "every comp setup" and records non stop till the lan is over which is usually 3 days long :! then i just decode the 3 days Raw video DVIX with ATI AVIVO :! faster than any video converter i have seen.

Fair Use Wizard, Gordian Knott, and Auto Gordian Knott (xvid and h.264) - Free. Prmarily intended for conversion of DVD files to xvid/h.264.

Windows Media Encoder (WMV9) - Free. If you can play the file in Windows Media Player, this utility will encode it to WMV9. Pretty flexible program, if not a little buggy on large files. Very easy to use wizard for novices.

SUPER GUI + ffmpeg + mencoder + x264 (h.264) - Free. Very flexible system. Will convert just about any video file to h.264. May be a bit confusing for someone who doesnt understand all the settings and terminology.

Nero Recode (h.264) - Not free, but if you already have the newest Nero software bundle, then you already have this.

Quicktime Pro (h.264) - Not free, and very slow.
