Best free internet service provider

My parents are looking for something free and easy to use. THey don't mind the banners. I had them on altavista for awhile, but it has stopped working.

Any recommendations?

Well, I don't know how good they are cus I can't get a local number where I live, but netzero is another free isp.

I use bluelight as a back-up for the rare times when my cable modem goes down. In that context they're not too bad. On the other hand, I used it as my primary ISP for a 10 day period not long ago and it drove me nuts because of the constant disconnects.

A friend of mine got an e-mail from Netzero saying that they're going to start charging people who use their service more than 40 hours a month, and he gave them his real name and address. Juno said they're thinking of imposing time restrictions too.

Excite has something called FreeLane that used to be very good, but ever since they quit using Alta Vista's software I run out of memory after 30-60 minutes of surfing (64 megs), and their new phone number in Phoenix is so busy that it usually takes 5 tries to get through.

assuming they'll use it under 40 hours, i'd recommend netzero. I was just on vacation for about a week, and used netzero and it was great. I tried excite too, but i got a ton of busies and disconnects. the disconnects suprised me, becuase for both of them, i was dialing into level3
