Another vote for SmartFTP, I was even able to help a computer-illiterate friend set it up so it's pretty straight forward.

BTW, does anybody know how to get rid of this "hasn't been updated for over 120 days ..." popup?

I should have said I want to setup a small FTP server.

all free, and IIRC come with FTP servers ;)

exactly what I would recommend :)
Plus you get the added bonus of picking up some linux exp. along the way. for the price of decent ftp server for windows, you could grab an old pc and have ftp..mysql..apache..etc etc...all on a dedicated pc.

oh well... :)

the best free Windows FTP server is WarFTP.

warftp for Windows

But linux is a better solution if you can use it. There are several excellent ftp servers for linux, as well as excellent http and mail servers (and servers for anything else you can imagine, as well). And they are all free. It might take a little while to learn enough to make linux work, but once you know it, you know it, and the future is nothing but gravy then.

It's possible to set up a Debian linux server that serves a ftp site, a web site, smtp mail, pop mail, Windows files, Macintosh files, and secure remote access in about one hour, after a little reading and practice. And did I mention it is all free?
