Best Free Antivirus?

I'm looking for freeware antivirus software. What's the best free one and where can I get it? Thanks.

unless you get a bootleg version or a university enterprise/coperate version that you can download with a login and password.

otherwise, I doubt there is a freeware for Norton especially.

antiVir gets the highest detection rate among the freebies, i am using it now and like it better than NAV2003, which i uninstalled eventho my subscription was still good because of the bloat.

According to some antivirus testing websites, Antivir caught more virus than AVG. The problem with Antivir is that it is update interface is not very smooth and it makes you download the entire program instead of the just the virus definition file.

Search the hotdeals forum for Panda Antivirus. It works really well and is freee for a year if you are in IT.

It also says that it will allow you to re-register in a year when the subscription runs out.
