Fuse Talk if you can afford the Cold Fusion server. If not try something else.

It all depends on what scripting/CGI stuff your web host provides

The best case scenario is if they give you PHP and a mySQL database. Use PHPbb for that.
If they give you perl, with or without mySQL, I would reccomend Ikonboard or YABB
If you don't have any scripting languages, you need to look at a remotly hosted board, such as an ez-board (www.ezboard.com)

Fuse talk is out. Rarely do hosts provide a Cold Fusion server, and CF is really, really expensive.

<< phpbb is free and really configurable. >>

w0ot - the only thing is learning to do it all yourself, which can be a pain for a n00b.

I have YaBB set up. I love it. Check it out here. Download it Here. Perl and a Webserver that supports CGI scripting is needed, but knoledge on how they work is not.

I assume that you have database access, if not, then my friend has a really good flat text file board. I can dig up the info if anybody is interested. Its free BTW
