I see that AT is using Fusetalk, and I like it, but I don't like the hefty price tag that comes with it. I have also seen powerboard and vbulletin. Can anyone give me a list of pros/cons for each one or recommend one that is not mentioned. I am looking for something professional and classy like fusetalk and one that is also free to use.

phpbb is not bad for a small site, just make sure you patch it and keep an eye on the site. Tends to be a spam magnet in the search engines.

They pretty much fixed that issue by adding visualization auth keys when registering for an account. phpbb is a solid board... until there's a vulnerability detected then you have to update post haste.
