im looking to get a 4gb mp3 player, flash-based like the ipod nano... BUT... is there a better player available? Reason I ask, the Nano lacks FM player capability. The reason I need flash based is because I will be running and working out in a gym, and the FM capability can come in handy at the gym when there are the tv's to tune to.

so far it seems that even without the FM tuner feature, the nano is the winner in terms of overall quality.
Im a bit of a sound junkie so it needs good sound quality too. i like Creative, I had a Nomad Zen 20gb a while ago, but their flash players look like trash. I like style. And I like the ability to put the Nano on your arm while running.

Sandisk
Samsung
iRiver
Creative

Just a few brands to consider. I would never get a nano because it can't do video... and it seems too fragile to me.

thing is, most other brands don't match the overall quality of the apple products. its nice to imagine they can, and creative is my favorite manufacturer, BUT there products aren't the best, aka the worst when it comes to styling. i am picky when it comes to style, in any product i'll use.
that iRiver Clix is nice sounding, I read a review earlier today on it... the navigation system for that seems funky too and doesn't sound like it could play well to be strapped the body (if thats possible for that player, period), since you press on the screen itself to navigate as the screen is built onto a 4-way rocker.

overall build quality of the navigation system and noise on the line at zero volume. the latter kills me to hear because that means there is likely a slight noise introduced at any volume. and apparently albums don't play in the order they are listed in in the menu.

I just got a Sansa e260 the other day and I absolutely LOVE it. It's small, solid, navigates easily (IMHO), and sounds great. The stock buds were uncomfortable in my ears, but I got new ones from Bestbuy last night and now I'm really happy. Plus, I can add memory to it in the future if I decide I need more than it came with.

The prices have dropped on the Sansa e200 series lately, too, so now is a good time to snap one up.

If you want to go the Nano route, just get a Nano and the Apple iPod Radio Remote. I have it for my Nano and it works great. Also, in addition to adding an FM radio, the remote has a clip on the back to clip it to your shirt, which is nice too.

alright.. this sansa e260 is looking more and more like the route I wanna take... guess I'm just gonna do a little more digging and will be all set.
right now, through the web-only pricing, I can get it for $200 after taxes from circuit city.
