Best flash mob evar

Both are amazing. Am I the only one that wants to walk up to the people taking shitty videos with the cell phones and smack it out of their hand and give it a stomping. Seems people can't enjoy being in the moment anymore without having to document it with their fucking phone, most of the crappy videos and pics they hardly view ever again anyway. If you've been to a concert lately you know what I mean.

I'm interested in how they managed to get such a high quality sound recording of the performance. I can see they had microphones for the singers and some speakers set up on the balcony but that was about it.

Usually these videos sound flash mob-like. Here there is little ambient noise or overly apparent natural room reverb. All of the instruments are audible in a nice balance with each other and the overall mix between instruments and the vocalists is very good.

It seems there was either an elaborate, and nearly invisible, multi-track recording system set up with individual microphones on each instrument or Obama had the whole thing pre-recorded in some LA studio in advance.

I hate most flash mobs. I think they are just flat out stupid. This one wasn't bad though. I do appreciate that it was a classical/orchestral piece. I guess the ones I hate are the shitty ass dancing ones.

Oh and also ditto to smacking the people taking videos of every damn "thing" that they see in their day. They will take a video and the only time they will watch it is when they realize they are running low on memory and have to in their pics and videos to delete shit.

coolbeans. Grandpa played the French Horn in in the Navy/AF band.

He also lost a leg landing his glider at Normandy.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

What was so special about it? The performance of it was fine but it didn't really feel much like a flash mob.

More like a flash Orchestra/Choir. It's just unexpected, high quality and cool. How would you realistically make it better, since you clearly found significant fault with it? At least that's what "Wasn't that good" translates to to me.

Maybe if they weren't in uniform inside a government building. That would be a start.

Friend of mine once bombed one of those stupid dancing flash mobs with his clarinet.
That was awesome.

I bet he would have joined in on these classical flash mobs.

And what's wrong with that? They're Air Force officers/NCOs so the uniforms are very much valid, and it's the Air and Space Museum. You make it sound like a soviet gulag.

Unless you're an Anarchist or something I don't get what your problem is. If a few members of the Boston Pops did the same thing in casual clothing in a public library it would somehow be better?

The tune played in the OP clip stirs up nostalgic feelings from my Amiga-using days, and one of the demos that came on the Extras disk included this melody with a pretty little pattern going around the screen 🙂

I came across the Ode to Joy one a few weeks ago, and I've listened to it about five times since. I wonder how many musical pieces will have Ode to Joy's level of immortality.

It was nice...but it's lacking in the fact that I think the more impressive flash mobs involve some firm of dancing.

I was wondering who the one fool was that gave it a dislike !!

 to you for not appreciating some classic music by our active USAF band members.

Apparently Uniformed Military personnel playing instruments and singing in the Air and Space Museum are offensive to him. No doubt a sign of the growing police state and the rampant militarization of our culture. :awe:

Odd but awesome Flashmob.

Normally, we see people dancing around on the songs, but this one looked kinda like a parade.

1) No such thing as a good flash mob
2) A military flash mob loses the one thing that is almost sort of okay about flash mobs, the set-up/rehearsal to get everyone on the same page as they're all under orders and rehearsing every day anyway.
3) Christmas music sucks no matter who is playing it.
