What's your favourite film trilogy?

Mine in no particular order are:

Back To The Future
Alien
Naked Gun
Indiana Jones

The Land Before Time I-X 😛 YA RIGHT!

Of course its Star Wars! Pick any three it dun matter.

LOTR gets its share, Godfather wasn't bad, need one more Kill Bill 🙂

Godfather.

Er...wait. Godfather III sucked. Nevermind.

Star Wars (Ep. 4-6)
Lord of the Rings
Indiana Jones
Alien
BTTF

Matrix anyone? 😛

No contest LOTR.

If you look at all the others mentioned here there are one or two films that really sucked balls in the trilogy. That is not the case with LOTR. All three of those movies were excellent.

I would say LOTR is the best, mainly because they planned it from the start as a trilogy. In Star Wars, the second one just seemed like it was incomplete. No beginning, no end, and it didn't fit in well. The Two Towers is actually alright on it's own, and when it's over, you feel like they accomplished something big.

It's not that it had no beginning and no end, it was designed as a segue between Episode IV and Episode VI. Thus the "beginning" you see is the after-effects of Ep IV (the rebel forces fleeing and setting up camp on Hoth, etc. etc. ), and the "ending" you see is the set-up for Episode VI (Luke becomes a Jedi, Rebel forces prepare for war with the Empire, etc. etc.). Many people would argue that Episode V is the finest of the three, because of the character development, esp. for Luke.

Don't get me wrong, I love LOTR, both stories have a continuous arc, like one big story. BTTF and Indiana Jones were more like three separate stories involving the same central character, so they're much more disconnected. As a result, the middle movie of the three tends to have a more complete storyline than stories such as LOTR and Star Wars.

Starwars!

Lotr sucks, great graphics, stupid movie.

Godtfather in a close second.
Indiana Jones comes close, but temple of doom wrecks the deal.
Back to the future is wrecked by number 2 aswell.
Alien is wrecked by Alien³.

you DO realize its all opinion, right?

anyways, i would have to agree with some of the ones stated, as well as add a few.

Austin Powers
Die Hard
LOTR
Terminator (i really liked how the whole trilogy ended, in that the judgement day was inevitable)

thats really all i can think of right now.

Lord of the Rings,. Why? Because all three movies were just about perfect... most other trilogies out there really had one movie that just wasnt as good as the other... (or in Matrix's case, 2 movies that wernt anything compared to #1)

Die Hard came close, but Die Hard With A Vengence just didnt have the grit the first two had. It relied too much as a buddy caper. Not to say I didnt like it, it just wasnt the same.

Oh, and people... Bond is not a trilogy... and anyone who things Back to the Future trilogy is the best is a fool. #3 was absolute garbage.
