have to agree with that. :)

I'd have to say the A-10 is the best modern ground attack aircraft....but overall fighter? F-22/Su-35

The F-15 is the best fighter plane overall, according to my latest information (which means it is most likely outdated), however it is one of the most expensive aircraft to produce, prompting the development of later models. Flown by Saudis and the US, it owned the Iraiqi air force in first gulf war.

The Mig-25 is the fastest fighter, and has best climb, but lacks manuverability.

I like the Tornado, its good multipurpose aircraft.

F-22:

supercruise
thrust vectoring
stealth

Too bad it won't be in active duty for at least another three or four years.

What is the most advanced version of the F-15? We (Israel) have the F-15I's which I believe are custom made, meaning suited for us. is there a newer, more advanced version out? if so, for which country?

If the MiG-21 is going for around $100K, I wonder how much a MiG-25 would be.

What about the Joint Strike Fighter? AFAIK it's an updated version of the F-22 and 2 or more prototypes have already flown.

It's a cut back version of F-22. Not as expensive, but not as good either

um, hmmm, the JSF, AFAIK, is actually a V/STOL aircraft that is being designed to replace the aging Harriers for the Marines - replacing the older model F-16's for the USAF - and replacing older model F/A-18's for the Navy. Hence, Joint Strike Fighter (Joint, as in being deployed by all these 3 branches), but I could be wrong. ;)

I'm partial to the P-38 Lightning myself. Talk about ingenuity!

If we're talking about ingenuity, then I've always liked the Mosquito...

"Hey, why don't we build it completely out of wood?"
"Damn, that's fast."
