Best/favorite actions scenes ever?

T2 belongs here. Also the crane chase segment from T3. The freeway scene in Matrix 2 (still a lousy movie).

Not the most action-packed scene of all movies, but the tension of the motel room scene in No Country for Old Men is unmatched.

Tank chase scene in Goldeneye.

That was definitely one of the better chase scenes. We should exempt chase scenes since that is a big enough sub group.

I will say Black Hawk Down had some awesome fight scenes including when the humvee's get hit and the driver is unable to see so Tom Sizemore's character grabs the wheel.

The ending to Leon: The Professional is also very good.

My top 3, in order:

1. Saving Private Ryan, beach scene
2. The Matrix, lobby scene
3. Black Hawk Down, most of the movie

About the Matrix lobby scene. I saw it recently years after years, and was not as amazed as before. Looks cheaper, and the leather outfits are terrible.

Sorry, but I don't see Saving Private Ryan as an action scene.

Certainly the greatest WW 2 battle scene ever filmed, but it isn't really 'action'

An action scene implies "action" fights, chases, things happening very fast. SPR is none of that. If anything the scene is very slow and methodical.
First 10 mins of film. I don't see it as action.

Yip Man = Ip Man

Except I bet he's talking about the original Ip Man movie, which is far better than Ip Man 2. Not to mention, the fight scene between Ip Man vs 8 karate students is pretty bad ass... especially when you watch the movie and see why he's so angry!

I've watched that scene and the one with him vs. the general dozens of times... it's too good!

EDIT:

In fact I'm going to go watch it right now! 😀

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Shu Lien fighting Jen in the warehouse, segueing into Lee Mu Bi fighting Jen at the top of the bamboo forest.

although I prefer the one against Jhin:

Ahh you're right about it being 10, and I like when the kid comes out on the pedal-horse and scolds his dad. 😀

EDIT:

Speaking of Ip Man, the hardest part I have with the movie is when I tried to rip my own blu-rays (emphasis for perceived legality), and I can never tell which track is the original Cantonese. 🙁 They're both listed as Chinese, but one is a Mandarin dub. I usually have to listen to the audio and play the blu-ray with the correct track selected to hear exactly what's said during a scene. I have a 1080p rip that I made of Ip Man 1, and I'm pretty sure I got the Mandarin track with it. :\

Greatly disagree, you can't tell me the assault on Normandy beach wasn't action!

To add to my list: the car chase from Bullit -Steve McQueen;
