a lot of the good fans just seem like they would be to big to fit on a slocket without covering my ram slots
i currently have a goldenorb and am thinking of buying a PEP66 or an FOP32 but they just dont look like they will fit on my slocket
anyone ever try this or have and ideas, tips??

thanx in advance

Any 60mm Fan will fit the H/S you thinking of getting. Most of the time the H/S will have a fan attached.

thanx for the reply
but what i meen is will it fit in length?
since the chip is on its side cause of the slocket, the heatskin and fan will be as well
the golden orb covers one ram slot
so i imagine since these look bigger (only seen pictures) they will probaly cover up more than one ram slot
what i want to know is if that is the case and how much room do they actually take up

so since they are both taller than my golden orb
i guess i pretty much cant use either of the two or i risk covering up another ram slot
what whould be the best solution for my cooling problem?
i want the best cooler that would fit in that space

The golden orb is the shortest decent cooler I know of. You might wanna get a chrome orb for the faster fan, which may give 1-2C better temps.

The Chrome orb itself will not outperform the G-orb, because the G-orb has a far superior clip.

Looks like this guys is in a jam. He doesn't wanna get a taller fan, cause his mobo is cramped, but he wants a better cooler. He could get some kind of water cooling setup, but i don't think thats what he wants.

I'm in a predicament similar to this one... I have a p3v4x and have to order a slocket to use my fc-pga chip that's in the mail. Anyone know what type of decent HSF can fit without covering ram slots on this mobo?

thanks for the help :)

I'm in the same boat, using a Gorb and looking at the PEP66.The PEP66 I think sticks out 63mm from the cpu towards the memory slots, so measure how much room you got. The fan is positioned opposite of the mobo and sucks air from the mobo area and blows it toward the side panel. If your ps hangs down on that side (vertical), it will block the fan. That's how my case is, and I'm thinking about cutting a round hole on the ps cover to match the fan diameter and let the ps fan suck the hot air directly from the pep66 and blow it out. My guess is the ps exhaust will only go up by five degrees at full load.

If your ps hangs on top of the mobo, I'm sure it will work and could even use a 25mm fan.

The P3V4X ain't as cramped as hellboy's mobo. He says even a gorb covers ram slots with a slocket. With a P3V4X you should have some good room between that slocketed gorb and the ram slots.

I'm confident that the PEP66 can fit on the P3V4X without any ram slots covered. If anybody disagrees please say so.

If Galileo is right, the PEP66 will probably cover 1 ram slot on the p3v4x. I'm considering the FOP32-1, though. gotta check the height specs to see if that might fit a little better.

Sorry to invade your thread like this, hellboy :)

i have an old BE6-2 and just want to get better cooling for my p3 700

the PEP66 looks great but i dont know if it will fit
