Best DVD software?

Under $1000, please. Actually different software types needed.

Also, it needs to be something my folks could use in transfering their home movies to DVD format. Create top menus, transitions, and small time screen editing.

And as for me, I want a video processing studio. As much bang for my buck. Rotoscoping, define my own transitions, fades and wipes. Also integrate well or include a sound studio to create a matching soundtrack with musical scoring.

for pc, we are talking

1. Adobe Premierer or ADobe Video Studio
2. Vegas Video( now distributed by Sony)
3. Pinnacle Liquid
5. Avid DV express.

For your parents, get pinnacle Studio Plus v9, and patch it to 9.3.5 After the patch it becoems the best personal EV editor and DVD maker for the price:thumbsup:

I'm still using Pinnacle Studio 8, and it works great. I've edited and created dozens of DVDs with menus and such. I wanna get Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus, it has an extra track for video, and picture in picture, etc.

For a larger solution, I want the Matrox RT.X100. It's a "realtime" solution. Basically, you capture and edit your video, and when you're done you don't have to wait hours for it to render before you burn it to a DVD. It's got its own hardware that processes the video in the background, so you can focus on being creative and not have to wait for the hardware to catch up.

Nope... he said he needs "something my folks could use in transfering their home movies to DVD format. Create top menus, transitions, and small time screen editing."

That's gonna require a video editing package...

I've used Pinnacle 9, not the latest patch, and wasn't happy with it. I still use it, but like the write to Disk in Sonic MyDVD 6 Deluxe. It works like a charm and it's to use.

so add Sonic MyDVD to your list.

I just downloaded a trial copy of Adobe Premiere Elements... another $99 program. It's got lots of features that none of the other consumer editors have. Try that too. It has unlimited video and audio tracks, and the best feature of all, you can preview your video on a real TV !!! I've been waiting years for a consumer editor with that feature!

Add Adobe Premiere Elements to the list too. It takes lots of features from Adobe Premiere, and puts them in a new consumer $99 price!

I use Studio 9 Plus. Works well and is pretty bug free. It's only $99, not $1000, so maybe you can buy something else with the leftovers 🙂
