i have a anime dvd i want to rip so i can watch the episdoes on my computer can anyone tell me what program can do that ? or maybe a guide ?

1) This is a software question, not hardware. This is the General Hardware forum.

2) Check out www.doom9.org for lots and lots of info on this topic (and many other related ones, like transcoding video files).

well the anime dvd i have has liek 4 episodes on it i want to rip each episode individualy and turn them into avi does dvd shrink do that ?

DVDX is supposed to do exactly what you want in one step. Just insert your DVD and input your desired settings, then it converts directly from the DVD to an AVI (DivX if you have it, XviD if not) file. However, it's a buggy program, and I've never gotten it to work consistently on my PC.

The other way is more complicated, but much more reliable. First, use DVD Decrypter to rip the original data onto your hard disk. Then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to extract the MPG file(s). Then, use some sort of software (I wouldn't know which) to convert the MPG to AVI.

I second doom9.org. If there is anything you ever want to do with a DVD, they have a tutorial for it. DVD Decrypter is probably your best bet for ripping the individual episodes off the DVD via 'stream processing' feature. Then use whatever program/doom9 method you like best to encode them into AVI.

DVD Shrink is not a encoder, it's a ripper, as your thread title requested. You'll need other programs to convert VOB to DivX. Read up doom9.net.

I generally use DVD Shrink to extract the VOB Files onto a folder on my hard drive... (make sure you de-select 'split VOBs into 1 GB chunks' in the options menu) then i sue AutoGordianKnot to convert the VOBs to avi... easy peasy

ok i used dvd shrink to get the vobs from the dvd and i used AutoGordianKnot to convert the VOBs to avi but i am not getting any audio ? im i doign something wrong :-(
