Best DVD media????

Hey Folks-

So I have recently gotten a 8x dvd writer and now I'm looking for good DVD media. I first bought Imation Dvd+R media and this only plays in my machine and my old DVD player.

By chance I have a few TDK 2x DVD-R's. I burned a DVD on this type and whola! It works on all dvd players I've tried (home and work).

So now before I rush out and only order TDK dvds are there any anyone can reccommend- ie cheaper? I've only heard horror stories about memorex on another board. So please enlighten me.

I think your issue lies moreso in the media itself, whereby the dvd-r's are more compatible than dvd+r's.

As far as brands are concerned,

The TDKs will give you much pleasure; and Fuji will rarely leave your side, but those who use Imation Media are sure to cry.

I've had good luck with the 2x TDK DVD-R. I recently got 4x Memorex DVD-R from CompUSSR and they work great.
It's not the cheapest media ($1.60/each) but they work great.

Many people reccomend Ritek G04. I tried a batch from newegg for ~$50 (50 pk). Two of them worked the rest were not even recognized in the drive. Sent them back for a refund.

Memorex (+R) work well...I have had nothing but good luck from Fujifilm (+RW) as well...haven't tried any others...

I use 4x TDK +R and they work with everything I have. My brother has found them to be top quality along with memorex 4x +R and that makes sense since apparently they are made by the same company. For myself I am sticking with the TDK's.

Was just looking at that. 4X TDKs are usually Taiyo Yuden or Maxell looking at dvdrhelp's media section. I use Maxell 2x, 4x -r. I would consider TY in a heartbeat. Just bought 50 4x inkjetable label Maxells for $75 including shipping. Now to fire up the Epson and try them out.
