Nero 8 is probably a lot better. So is EMC 9 or 10. As for freebies -take your pick.

Does Nero 8 suffer from the same problems we've seen with version 7? (such as badly-written DVDs?) I know lots of people complained about the changes in 7.x (starting with that unfortunate piece of crap called "Nero Scout") ....
 
imgburn if you want to avoid all the extra bloat you don't need from Nero like the multimedia stuff and indexing /desktop search. The best part about imgburn is it is free.
