best dual processor mobo?

Wow that was fast. I am building from ground up and open for all suggestions/combinations. I haven't built one in a few years and researching for "best" board would take too long. That's why I love this forum. Most of the ground work is done already.

Again, what will it be used for, and what software (OS, Apps, etc..) are you going to run? And what hardware?


The Dual Athlon MP setup is probable going to be the cheapest and still offer some good bang.

The best IMO right now would be a Dual Opteron system. If using it as a desktop then go with a VIA chipset. If using it for a Hard core workstation or server, then look at the AMD chipset boards made by Tyan.

My vote would probably go towards the Tyan Thunder K8W! :cool: Factor in a very beefy EPS-form-factor power supply, a big case, two Opterons, and about 4GB of Registered ECC PC2700, and you're cookin' with gas. :D
