Best Droid phone for Verizon?

Not true. The Droid X has some stuff - one thing is CityID is preinstalled and you can't uninstall it and it's only a trial and it wants you to buy it. There are a few other things that cannot be removed like Amazon MP3, Backup Assistant, Blockbuster, and Skype Mobile. I'll never use any of that but I can't get rid of it - at least not without rooting or something I guess.

OK, read what I wrote.
Now read what you wrote.
Now slap yourself, you silly little nerd.

You really can't go wrong with either the Droid X or the Fascinate (or Droid 2 if you want a hard keyboard, but I think those are pointless now). I had the choice of the DX or the SF, I went with the SF. I like the size of the Fascinate much better than that of the DX. The DX seemed much more like a two-handed phone, which isn't really my thing. Plus, the SF is the fastest phone out there even still being on 2.1. The wait for 2.2 is killing me, but it should be out very soon.

I say that any phone needs to be rooted to be made better, no matter what you are doing with it. The DX has bloat just like the SF does. It takes like 15 minutes to root and install a new ROM, so I don't see why people complain. Even you don't have a clue what is going on, just follow the tutorials every step of the way. Bing, Verizon bloat? Gone. Crappy app drawer? Gone. TouchWiz? Gone. Crappy contacts app? Gone.

it last most the day. though i admit i have the wifi and gps on all the time.

its really low compared to my Samsung Omnia i had. it would last 2-3 days without having to be on the charger. with the Droid i have to do it daily or its almost dead after a day of heavy use.

Pretty sure she keeps her WiFi and GPS off almost all the time, but pretty much everything else on. I know she uses the hell out of Bluetooth while driving. She normally charges every other day.

from what i have read it seems keeping the wifi and GPS on really drains the battery. though i have a docking station for the home and the car mount with power adapter (got it yesterday! woot).

i love the phone though. I haven't used the GPS i have in my car since i got it. Also like the app store. though haven't downloaded much.

I'm eligible for a discount on a phone now, and was wondering what the best droid phone for Verizon currently is; with regards to web surfing googlemapping and shit like that

Droid X is shit like you can do everything you want to. PERIOD!

Need GPS? Droid X. Don't need GPS? Fascinate. Can wait 3-4 months? Droid Terminator or Galaxy S2, or some other dual-core beast.

You can root both the X and the Fascinate with just an app now, you know.

Sweet! Just the info I was looking for. I've been tempted by the Droid X lately, but I've been waiting on word of it's successor. (I'm especially temped by the X now that it's $50 at Amazon Wireless) But, I've been holding out for the holiday competition, and see if the the Verizon I-Phone materializes and reap the benefits of the over-reaction by the competition.

However, it looks like the Terminator is exactly what I was waiting for...
