Hi all,

I am getting a 9700 pro to replace my aging GF4 TI4200 and need to know what is the best, most stable drivers I can use. I searched some threads and found out the 3.7 's are quite good even though the 3.10 are released. Also heard about using Driver cleaner.

System is
Asus A7N8X Dlx 2.0 board
2500+ chip (overclocked slightly to 3000+) w/ sk-7
2 x 256 Buffalo pc3200
Antec 430 PS

running XP Pro

LMK
Thanks

I have a 9700 Pro and find that the 3.10 drivers work just fine for me. And use driver cleaner to remove all remmants of the Nvdia drivers or you'll have problems. Should be relatively painless process for you. With XP Pro I switched from a Geforce 3 and following the instructions with the driver cleaner program, had no problems whatsoever.

Thanks. What MB you got????

I have an Asus P4T533-C. An older board but along with a 3.06 o/c to 3.22 with pc1066 rdram it still does the job for me just fine. I'll wait for the Tejas chipset before I upgrade again. Of course the new AMD chips are looking and performing like a champ so I may go back to AMD depending on what is out there at the time I decide to upgrade again.

I would say that it all depends on the games you play. Some games might work good with the 3.10's and others might not. The 3.7's might be the reverse situation. I would install the 3.10's and see how it goes. If you have any problems, try a different version. You might even give the Omega drivers a shot, they seem to work well for a lot of people.

Driver Cleaner is good to run before installing the drivers. I find it best to run it in Safe Mode; on occasion, it would not take out 2 files unless I ran it in Safe Mode.

I'm runnig the 3.10's on a 9800np and they have worked fine for me.
