My dad bought a Dremel 4000 rotary tool on a whim and I am wondering what everyone recommends as the best Dremel accessory kit for general purpose uses.

sweet! buying this next time I go to Harbor Freight.

Be careful..... not all dremel knock-off stuff is equal. The HF grinding, wire, and cutoff discs are all junk. Their polishing heads are crap too.

Personally, I bought a small kit (40-50 pieces?) and then replenish that.

The dremel brand fiber reinforced cutoff discs are amazing.

There's no one "best accessory kit" for everyone.

You should match the kit to the types of work you'll be expecting to do with the Dremel. (I own a couple...and have a couple of accessory kits.)

MOST people who buy Dremel tools end up using them for one or two projects, then they get put away and rarely used...

IMO, the Dremel branded accessories are FAR superior to the crap sold at Harbor Freight.

I agree, stick with Dremel brand accessories. They are better. You should get the abrasive discs with shaft, the tiny saw blade is nice, cutting burrs and some polishing / grinding stones. The Dremel is also very good for use with very tiny drill bits, like #66 & #70 both commonly used for component holes in circuit boards.
