My mom wants to get started with a digital camera. Nothing fancy. Under $200 is what we are looking for.

I guess i'm not really picky about what it has with it, its gotta have a little screen to view pictures but thats about it. Also, that memory should be cheap. 🙂

So if you guys could just give me some recomendations. I havent really been able to find a site that compairs digicams so if anyone knows about a site i woould be very thankfull.

Thanks People

If your mother can wait then I would buy the Canon PowerShot A40.

If she has to buy TODAY then get the Fuji Finepix 2650, I think there's a $15 off coupon floating around, plus free shipping and save another few % with eBates.com

Why wait for the Canon PowerShot A40? (Wait could be 2-3 weeks whenever OfficeMax.com gets it back in stock -or- Dell has another sale like this).

I still say that you should wait for another deal on the Canon PowerShot A40. Another plus is it uses CF media which is cheap and abundant, vs. Fuji's xD which I know nothing about and it costs $$$

However Staples.com also sells the Fuji Finepix 2650 for $199.98 - $50 off $200 coupon - free shipping = $150 🙂

WOW. I want a Canon PowerShot A40. Thanks a LOT. Its everything i ever wanted. Finally i can shoot my own outdoor desktop pictures.

OK, so now i have to find it cheaper. Heheheh

Woohoo, good thinking!

Just wait for OfficeMax.com to get it back in stock then use their $50 off $250 coupon and you'll be set 😀

Until 12/21...the Fuji includes a free (refurb) HP 7150 photo printer too!
I can vouch for the 2600....it was a great camera. 2.1 megapixel and very sharp images. Low-light situations aren't all that great, but most digital cameras have that problem. The flash is bright enough to illuminate any room.

Here's a picture taken with my mother's Fuji 2600

tell her to wait, office max usually has a deal for a canon powershot a40 + memory card of some size for 199.99 , i would guess sometime soon, it has been a while since the last time they offered the deal.

I wanna get one for under 2 bills that uses smart media.

Then get the Fuji FinePix 2600. It is the same as the 2650 except that it uses Smartmedia. These are still floating around.

Compgeeks still has them.

Any opinions on the Fuji FinePix 2600 ?

For the 200th time, it's a great digicam, buy it.

Thanks a lot, that looks like a deal !

You're welcome. I believe there's a free $20 or $50 gift card which comes with this digicam but I could be wrong, anyhow it's worth checking out at your local CompUSA.

This seems to retail for around $180, so if there is a free gift card then it's really hot.

You may also want to check your local OM B&M which has some digicams on sale including the Canon PowerShot A40 and two Kodak digicams (which suck) but neither of these accept SM media.
