Best device/software to replace handwirtten journal

I am looking for a device & software to replace my handwritten journal.

I want it to operate like a regular notebook where "pages" are stored just as I write then with the pen (I write notes and drawings) and can easily go fwd back to see other pages.

Size and quality must be near the same; my current journals are about 9" high and 13" long...and regular pen quality.

I am looking at tablet pc's and the ipad but not sure what would be best or if I should look at another device.

Thanks for any suggestions...

Doogie Howser used a Mac IIRC. That's the only time I've ever seen an electronic device used as a substitute for a journal.

Not going to happen. The paper journal is still unsurpassed. You're not going to get close in terms of weight and overall "feel" with any current digital solution.

I would suggest investing in a heavy-duty paper cutter (to cut the bindings off) and a scanner with an ADF (automated document feeder) if you want to digitize your journals.

This is why Microsoft shouldn't have cancelled the Courier project.
I agree with you. Microsoft shouldn't cancel the Courier project, they just want to have more fund (money)

Thanks for the responses. I think I am going to keep looking for a dictionary-quality book. My problem is that the pages fall out over time and I just haven't been able to find a very high quality journal.

The live scribe will be too much to use. I tried the iPad today with the notes app, it would be perfect if the screen was a little larger and it had a pen input.
