Is "Delta Dental" the most super awesome dental plan ever?

I can pick it for 2008 but it's not exactly a big name like BCBS or Metlife or Aetna.

Who backs Delta Dental?

Are they good?

I had delta dental years back, the particular plan I had was pretty much not insurance at all. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it wasn't much.

Iono, but its the only plan available where I work and it seems to work out ok. Pays for my twice a year cleaning, the xrays for my braces and 4 extractions. Didn't cover braces for adults though, so I was still out 4.5k.

Delta Dental is perhaps the oldest Dental Ins. around. They are one of the biggest dental insurance providers. I doubt they would go under like you are speculating.

In my experience, having Delta Dental was almost as cheap as paying everything out of pocket.

I have delta dental from my company. I have never had to pay for anything. But then again I'm pretty sure my shady persian dentist pulls something.

I've never had a problem with them, but then I really don't have problems with my teeth. It covers my two cleanings a year, xrays and whatever else they do for $6.xx a month.

Like any insurance plan, there are levels of coverage. I've had Delta Dental in the past and had their
premium level" of coverage. They paid for 2x annual exams and cleanings, x-rays, all "maintenance" without any deductible.
IIRC, MOST procedures cost me about 10% of the covered charges. (Gotta watch that one...some dentists charge MORE than the "covered charges" and you pay the difference.)
I've had a couple of other dental plans that weren't as good, and my out of pocket costs were higher.

Not sure if Delta Dental is good or not, but I can say HUMANA DENTAL stinks!

Including the weekly premiums, I paid more out of pocket with the insurance than it would have cost me had I not had any. What a racket!!!
