I ordered 2 sticks, if you need ddr2 also, they have Crucial 667mhz for $8.99 + shipping after small rebate.

order 2 sticks of ddr1 and ddr2 and get one of the lowest prices on both there has been in a long time.

total comes to $106.53 - $20.00 rebate on ddr2 sticks = $86.53 thats basically $66.00 for 2 x 1gb ddr1 and 20.53 for 2 x 1gb ddr2

which is not bad at all.

actually buffalo ram isn't a bad brand of ram.


I'd put it as a tier 2 (not quiet corsair / crucial type) but much better than kingston or pny and hell of a lot better than a-data (the lexmark of ram)

EDIT: I thought I'd add that Buffalo makes GREAT RAM. I'd rank them with Crucial and Kingston, my other choice vendors for OEM upgrades (for Dells, HP's, etc.) because generally, they are all very compatible and compliant.

Wintec is good stuff but Buffalo is great too, remeber when the buffalo PC3200 was overclocking like crazy and people were snagging it up at newegg as fast as they could get it, i had a set that did pc4000 no problem about 3 years ago.

How will two sticks of this fare in a Dell Dimension 2400? This model is PC2700 with two memory slots. On Dell website shows you can purchase 1 GB and has max for memory at 2048.

Yes, it sees around 3.2GB to 3.5GB unless you have XP 64 bit OS

DDR1 is actually out of production except for a few smaller facilities. it's joining SDR and RD-Ram now and the price is starting to climb again.



and the only reason I don't put it as high on my list as crucial / corsair is because they don't cater to performance ram.



justinj6: it works perfect in that model dell, though it will only run pc2700 speeds (downclocks fine). this is actually ram we recomend at microcenter for the dimension 2400 about 50 times a day. not a single problem with it what so ever.

Mna, it sucks that I have a DDR1 only motherboard. It also sucks that it can only support 3 sides of RAM.

Is it okay just to buy DDR2 and stick it in? Its a lot cheaper

no it won't fit. ddr1 is 184 pin and ddr2 is 240 pin

Thanks Miguel421, that good to know. It's for my dad and I'm not there to help test or deal with problems so I was hoping to find something pretty reliable.
