Best deal I have gotten in a long time, 1981 Jeep CJ5 for $800

I got this from the same person I got my $400 Yamaha gas golf cart from. They are in a bind again, it has a small block 400 engine, 35" tires, Ramsey winch but doesnt have a title. It runs real good and it also isnt rusted, this was one of the best deals I have ever got

I actually only paid $400, I went in half with a friend and we are going to resell it

Do a title search before trying to sell. If its clean then apply for a new title and make some good money.

I have listed it on craigslist for 2000 and have already had a few people asking about it. I am thinking about selling that winch seperate

Needs breaks and the turn signal is messed up

Brakes should be easy enough to fix as long as it doesn't need a master cylinder or new brake lines or calipers (then it could get expensive).

Does that V8 engine weigh substantially more than the straight 4 or 6 those usually come with?

Live anywhere near Ohio and wanna deal? 🙂 Judging from the lack of rust, I'm gonna guess not.

I really want a decent CJ5. I would have bought that for $800, no questions asked.

I rented one of those once in Mexico. Great off-road but on-road it is one of the most miserable vehicles I've ever driven in my life.

Heh - a buddy in college bought one and we took it on a 7 hour road trip. I felt like I'd lost a boxing match by the time we arrived.
