best ddr2 ram for >$250?

hey there- i got a 2-part question:

1) i'm putting together a conroe rig w/ a gigabyte ds3 and a e6400... can i get some ideas for the best ram i could get for under $250 (or right in that neighborhood)?
so far i like team 667 with the 3-3-3-8 timings and the mushkin extreme 667 w/ the 3-3-3-10 timings

2) so how much of a difference will i actually see from a 667mhz 3-3-3-8 ram compared to an 800mhz 4-4-4-12?

oh and fyi- i will be overclocking, just not trying to set any records.

You actually should look at the ram's OCing ability. If it's good, then you'll get better OCs. The rated speed doesn't always guarentee better OCs

I enjoy seeing a 2407 with a pII 866. It is like seeing a beauty queen with the local Napolean Dynamite (strangely odd yet titillating in a I can't look away kind of way)

You need to change your thread title >250 implies you want the best memory money can buy. 400 dollar range from some 1100 DDR2 memory

I would look for some lower priced value ram that gives you good 800-1000 timings because you will overclock. YOU WILL OVERCLOCK to the early morning hours three days after you start and twenty seven mountain dews later you will be eeking that last 2mghrtz out of the processor at memory timings of 4-4-4-12 and you will grin furtively and glance around the wire and part cluttered room listening for the phantom band to play Hail to the Chief for your 3dmark 06 score and ... wait ... am I projecting again. My bad.

yes i have been commanded to overclock and i shall obey, indeed.

but i still need suggestions. what 2 gigs of ram can i get for approximately $250 that is best suited for that need?

i've heard g.skill is awesome. i see a thread for some crucial ballistix 6400 in the hot deals forum. what else? which ram make and model is known for their rock solid dependability and overclockability?

I use OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum in my current system. 425FSB 4-5-4-15 @ 2.1V. Will aim higher when I get home tonight.

the ocz is moving to the head of the class... thanks baked and michaelpatrick. looks promising thus far...
anyone have experience w/ g.skill cas4 6400 in a ds3? newegg has many great reviews.
