Best DDR2 currently available?

I've been playing around with my old system. It is running a Phenom X4 9750 at 225x12.

I don't even need the "best." I just wanted to run a 2:1 memory divider, so I need some RAM that will run at 550 MHz. Currently, my RAM is only running at 375MHz.

Would the average stick of DDR2 1066 make it to 550MHz?

shouldn't really be an issue, unless you get some crappy ram. that's only a 17mhz overclock. unless you actually need more ram in the computer i wouldn't recommend buying ddr2 at this time; a 4gb (2x2gb) kit of ddr2 is nearly twice as expensive as that of ddr3!

besides

the difference between ddr2 800 and ddr2 1066 is negligible...as such i'm pretty sure the difference between your ddr2 750 and 1100 would be negligible.

if you're really looking at dropping $ on that machine (assuming you were wanting to get 4gb of ram, which is ~$80), i believe you would see much bigger returns in putting that money toward an SSD.

Poor guy is stuck on DDR2 unless he does a complete MB/CPU/RAM upgrade, stop teasing him with DDR3.

Even then the SSD is probably the better bet, unless you're looking at better memory for some other reason than speed and a 1:2 divider.

Yep, any name brand of DDR (Crucial, Micron, Corsair, Mushkin, Kingston even OCZ) should have no problem making it to 550 MHz -- that's only a 16 MHz bump. Even the really shitty stuff should. Just set your memory timing to 2T rather than 1T to be safe.
