i want cpu/ddr/agp voltage mods.

raid or not is no biggie , id like onboard audio unless the board comes with a io panel that i can use.

Probably the best performing one is the ASUS P4S333 based on the SiS 645 chipset.

I take it you're gonna be doing serious NW overclocking? I'd take the Asus P4B266 because SiS 645 doesn't overclock as good as 845-D and Asus P4B266 is the king of 845-D overclocking. There is a RAID version coming, P4B266-E.

I'm leaning toward the ABIT BD7 or the ASUS P4B266
The Abit BD7, has a "PCI Lock" feature, that allows your PCI bus to still be within specifications, no matter what FSB you are running. A nice PIV 2.0A Ghz cpu with a little overclocking should make for a fine setup :)

I would advise against BD7. Even with the PCI Locking, the max fsb Anand got in the 845-D roundup was 127MHz, while MSi 845 Ultra got 140MHz and P4B266 gets similar numbers

more P4 news...

It looks official.. according to the s-specs, there will be a P4 1.6A Ghz and 1.8A Ghz version of the Northwood.
The updated P4 S-Spec chart is linked below. :)

Intel PIV

Wow! think of the implications. I don't know anything about P4 overclocking, but I would assume the 1.8GHz would come with an 18 multiplier x 100. If you can get the P4 motherboard to 140Mhz than you are looking at 2520Mhz, a speed which seems very realistic for a Northwood. According to the link it is going to be $257, looks like Northwood just bridged the price performance gap with Athlon XP or came close. I would even consider one now, it might be worth the price. But the best new for us is the competition, the closer it gets the better the price breaks for us! I bet AMD will lower the price on all XP's, Intel will follow with price drops on the lower clocked Northwoods.
Yipee!!!!!!!!!

Since all the northwoods have the same stepping? Isnt it plausable that the 1.6ghz and 1.8ghz are just 2.2ghz versions with their multiplier lowered? I was planning on picking up a 2ghz when the price dropped but now I may go for the 1.8ghz if it can overclock just as well. The only problem is running PCI busses out of spec to overclock. AndyHui mentioned that he thought the P4B266 should have a 1/4 PCI divider. Without that running a 18x133=2.4ghz would mean a 44mhz PCI bus which is not really healthy for the computer.

I was thinking similar...

P1.6 @ 133 fsb = 2128
P1.8 @ 133 fsb = 2394

I think the mobos have the 1/4 PCI.

I'll wait for other people to try it out. I'm not going to be the first this time!!

i was looking at the sis version board by asus and i have a 1.8 p4 original. most im looking to get if any is 2ghz aircooled.

i can run it at 1.9 without voltage increases but my board doesnt support non cpu voltage increses.

so its a toss up between the 845d and the sis

Get a P4B266, with standard PC2100 memory it outperforms the P4S333 with PC2400 memory.

I'm a bit sour on Giga-Bite at the moment. I just went though a nightmare with a PIII board of theirs, the GA6OXET-C. I tried 2 of them. Real POS. I got an RMA for it and have an ASUS on the way. I'll pay an extra $20 for something that works. I've never been sorry when I've bought ASUS.

well.. Newegg .. just had to do it!

They have the Asus P4B266-C (Without Audio & Lan)

Its only $119.00.. Three more bucks than the new Sis board.. Looks like this is the one....
This is a great price for some P4/ DDR action, with the stability of the Intel chipset

Asus P4B266-C (Without Audio & Lan)

Anyone has a link for more information. How is it different from the regular P4B266 in addition to Audio and LAN?

well i got the 8IRXP and its a great stable board,

even the onboard lan rocks.

you get a bunch of extras, like a 4 port usb 2.0 header. 2 extra usb 1.0 , onboard lan and sound let alone raid 133
