Best current AM2 mobo?

I'm using an ASUS Crosshair motherboard and I really like it. Using an AMD X2 6000+ chip and 2GB OCZ DDR2 6400 memory. Check my sig, it's the AMD Workhorse. With 3 HDDs loaded with music, DVDs and other active software, it's pretty responsive. Also, the newest CPU magazine (not out yet, but I read as a subscriber on their website pdf) has an article, ...the best of 2007. For AMD mobos, it selected the Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H as #1, the Biostar TF560 A2+ as their runner-up and the ASUS M2N32-SLI Premium and second runner-up.

So maybe these boards will give you something to look at.

With apologies to RaptureMe, I'd stay away from Open Box items from Newegg; even they put a caution on buying Open Box. Those are generally returned items and they don't have any of the things you would get with the retail box, including the wireless antenna, cables, and such. Don't even know if you get the manual. If you decide to go this way, CHECK THE RETURN POLICY!

Given, the retail version is about $40 higher, but I believe I'd pay the difference for the peace of mind...

Thanks for the info. My boss who is a fellow geek got one of these mobos and said it was sweet. Think he got the 6000+ too. Asus makes great mobos but the price shows. Looking more for a value oriented mobo with good OC features and Gigethernet. Wireless, e-sata, firewire and SLI are all unnecessary extras for me. Does asus have any AM2 value mobos that are good? I think I saw a review of the Biostar so I'm gonna check that out. Thanks again

I just built a computer to sell to a relative based on the Biostar TF560 with black box AMD 5000+. Pretty clean and simple motherboard, plenty of overclocking options. All in all it is a great value board to do some overclocking on. The blackbox edition processor overclocks pretty good, haven't messed around too much with it....but it did 3.0ghz easily on stock voltage. Once everything gets wrapped up I will do more testing to see just how far it can go. I vote for the biostar if you're looking to do this on the cheap to play around with.

I was checking out that combo myself. Supposedly, you can get 3.2ghz just by raising the multi so its really interesting. Considering how close AMD is to intel in performance at that speed, its a tempting deal.

Yep thats all you have to do....the 3ghz I hit on stock voltage was by simply raising the multiplier. I haven't bothered to try for more until I get everything finished up with the computer. All in all its a nice economical setup with good overclocking potential.
