I am replacing a 400mhz cpu and generic motherboard for my cousin.

He wants to spend under $200 on a new mobo and chip

I looked around pricewatch and found some good deals but I'm not sure what motherboard is a good one.

I was definitely thinking about going with AMD just fyi. It's going to be used for internet, gaming, word processing, etc. So the chip has to be decently fast to handle 3d games like max payne and mohaa.

Also the biggest problem is he is going out of town for a week so I need to find a website that will ship to a different address then what is on the credit card. Every website I find want it to be the same address =( which is not possible. If anyone knows a site that accepts that, it will be helpful too.

Thanks

ECS K7S5A w/ Athlon XP1900+ it's around $210 at Newegg,
well you can use slower CPU if want to keep it under $200

if you want P4 Nortwood take the 1.6A, it's $133 and there are
ECS P4S5A and BIOSTAR M7SXF mobo w/ Sis 645 Chipset
at Newegg also for around $70

you can ship on the different addres on newegg but you have to call
your Credit Card and give them an alternate address.

good luck

yeah, i like the sis 735 chipset that the ecs uses... i've had one and they are excellent. and it can use ddr or sdram... so u can upgrade it if you want. the prices on that mobo are also very good... ~65 shipped average (prolly find it for less.)

First off, do not get a P4 if you will be using SDRAM. Stick to Athlon XP's, which aren't hurt as badly by SDR as the P4's are. As for the best combo, I would have to 2nd the K7S5A notion. I've had a great experience with this board in my main system, just make sure your PS can provide 25 amps on the 5V rail and plenty of power on the 5V+3.3V rail
