Best cpu cooler for E3110/E8400?

I just got my E3110 and IP35-E this week and now i need a cpu cooler. I would like to get a cpu cooler to push it past 3.6Ghz. Right now core temp shows as 60c during an orthos run and 45c at idle -but i'd like to bring that down.

FYI, intel says the chips are rated to 72c, but still, i'd like to keep it below 60c under load

I looked at the CNPS9700 and CNPS7700 but wasn't sure if there are better options.

Thanks!

Tuniq tower 120 for the same money, yet better performance. Thermalright ultra extreme 120 is also better then those zalmans. There's also a xigmatek, but I don't know the exact model #. I'd probably go for the tuniq tower 120 or the xigmatek, both offer excellent performance for their money.

I just threw in a E8400 into an existing rig and the Tuniq at 1.4V tops out in the 53-55 range on small FFTs Prime. Lapping mine helped a few degrees if that since the base was ok when I got it.

Personally, I went with the Scythe Ninja because I was looking for something that could handle the CPU passively to lower noise, but like the Accelero, all it needs is a quiet fan at 5v to get the most out of it which is what I did.

HDT-S1283, although there's a new one coming out soon...the Achilles.
I've used the Thermaltake Big Typhoon, the Tuniq Tower & the Xigmatek in my system. The Xigmatek performs on par w/the Tuniq Tower for my setup. I'm happy with it. Of course I got it while it was cheap, too. :)

i'd take the tuniq over the xigmatek because the latter (xigmatek) uses push pins and the tuniq tower 120 uses spring mounted screws

One can get a backplate kit for the Xigmatek.
I'll take whichever offers me the best performance at the best price. :)

Hopefully this will be helpful to you; we have posted an article comparing many of the top CPU coolers recommended in our Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q1 2008 roundup here: http://benchmarkreviews.com/in...sk=view&id=45&Itemid=1

All of the coolers used the same fan so that CPU cooler performance was isolated, and all of the products were stock (not lapped or modified). You may find different performance results by using a different fan or modifying the product.
