channel-surfing, I happened upon a marylin manson video. Not a fan, but I recognized the song, so had to sit and watch it until I identified it (tainted love). So that got me thinking...what are the best covers around?

So, mine:
Queensryche - Scarborough Fair
G&R - Cats in the Cradle
Manfredd Mann - Blinded by the Light
Metallica - Tuesday's Gone

Cibo Matto - About A Girl
Sleater-Kinney - Fortunate Son
Polly Harvey - Highway 61 Revisted
White Stripes - Stop Breaking Down, One more cup of coffee, St. James Infirmary Blues

Sonic Youth - Superstar (as in the Carpenters). If you've never heard it, DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!

Perfect modern-day take on a 70's song of innocence 🙂

Van Halen - You Really Got Me
Nirvana - Been a Son
Rage Against The Machine - Fvck the Police (and most of the songs on Renegades)

Queensryche's cover of Scarborough Fair is great, I've always wanted to hear that one live. I would also vote for Orgy's cover of Blue Monday, Psychic TV's cover of Good Vibrations, and Electric Hellfire Club's cover of Calling Dr. Love.

Any of Metallica's covers are great. I heard they did a live cover of Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle at a show a few years back. I wish someone somewhere had a copy of it.

Yeah, I'm not that excited by too many bands that came out since the 70's, but Goldfinger is pretty good, or at least the covers they do are pretty cool.
Goldfinger - Is She Really Going Out With Him (Joe Jackson)
