Best course of action for my ticket?

Got a speeding ticket, which is fine. You can't speed and not be surprised when you get a ticket. I was planning on paying and then taking school to get my record clean. I havn't had a ticket for well over 18 months, but when I got my courtesy notice, it said I wasn't eligible for school.

I looked up the violation it is just a "Basic/prima facie speed limit" so it is an infraction, not a misd. Why should I not be able to take school for that? Should I go to court and see if the judge will change that for me?

are there definitely points associated with the ticket? I'm betting not for prima facie

Plead not guilty, go to court, try to talk it down with the DA/Judge.

If you're in California, there is that entire site devoted to California traffic tickets that has been posted on here a lot. I'm sure someone will post it again for you.

Talk to the judge and maybe even the cop in the courtroom before it starts. Also the DA...perhaps you can swing something in your favor.

I called the courthouse. They said b/c of my speed I could not take traffic school. I will have to actually go in and talk with a judge. I will be out of the country on my court date so I will have to go in early, so the cop won't be there.

Yea, I found the site. They say I can actually contest the ticket by mail. Which seems appealing to me. I actually don't want to contest the ticket, but Id rather do that then go to court. I just want to take bloody traffic school.

Radar hit me at 52 in a 25, cop wrote in 52 estimated speed and then put 44 for radar so I didn't get a misdemeanor.
