Im getting a p3 800E fcpga with an asus cusl2 and im wondering whats the best cooler i can get for it. I was thinking about the alpha pep66 but some people say that hedgehog is better. If you have any other suggestions than those two feel free to tell me.
Thanks

A pep66 is not the proper cooler for that board. It is tough to beat a PAL 6035, but he hedgehog will nose it out. Part of it depends on what fan you use too. The Delta black label is a little too much for me, noise wise. :)

Hmmm... from the photographs I've seen, the CUSL2 seems like it can take a PEP66.

han888, what is preventing the PEP66 from fitting the board?

I've used an Alpha PEP66 on my CUSL2 in my Antec SX1030B case. It's sort of tough to get on though and the Delta Fan 38cfm that I have on it was blowing the hot air right into my PS. You'd probably be better off getting a one made for a socket mobo. I took it out, because the noise of the fan is too loud and I can run my P3 700@1ghz using only a golden orb.

Oh, Tavin you might want to think about getting a different mobo if you are getting that P3 800. Unless you are sure you can get it to a 133 fsb(1064mhz), or higher. The pci multiplier on the CUSL2 doesn't change from 1/3 to 1/4 until you reach 133mhz. At 132mhz it's still set to 1/3, which, can make for some pretty high pci bus speeds(44mhz) which most devices can't handle. If you already have the CUSL2 then you would probably be better off getting a different cpu.

yup, nice advises for u tavin64, but i am running for 4 month already at 41 pci bus speed and until now the system is still rock here! i dont know why, may be i put some cooller on my hd and sblive can handle the 41 bus

same here, han888. I'm running PCI at either 37 or 47, can't remember. Whichever one is in the ratio 150:150:x
Anything higher than that, and my NIC stops working.

the PEP66 was pretty much designed for Slot1 boards using a slotkey from what I can tell. So it won't cover up a dimm slot.
