As far as lapping goes, I think i'd forgo the few bucks for the sandpaper & hunting down a perfectly flat surface & let the place I purchase the cooler do it for me (for $19)...but what can I say...i'm lazy. 🙂

Why shouldnt the Prolimatech be lapped?

Quoting from the article here:

Prolimatech does not condone any type of lapping done to the CPU or to heatsink base. Every Prolimatech's heatsink base is designed on a pin-point scale of how the base is to be flat and/or curved where it's needed to be. We have programed our machines to machine the surface in a very calculated way. Any after-manufacture lapping or modding done to the base will alter the design, hence negating its performance factor as well as its warranty.

I'm loving my Megahalems! I'm using Arctic Silver 5 TIM so I still have another day of "cure" time before it's ready to compare to my previous Zalman CNPS9900LED. I have it mounted on an Asus P6T atm, and I'm using two Xilence Red Wing fans (57CFM @ 1500RPM /w 21.2dB noise). So far I've seen my average temps drop 2-6°C, with PWM features disabled in BIOS. Oh and mounting this was completely easy, I just started one screw ... then started the other before tightening both down.

Here's a pic: Prolimatech Megahalem Mounted on P6T

Just get the prolimatech imo. Yeah you could spend a bunch more for a TRUE copper that only performs at its best when lapped (usually), or you could buy something like the prolimatech which would work great out of the box and worst case scenario only be a couple degrees warmer then the TRUE. A couple degrees won't make a difference

What kinda case do you have in that pic, Cannyone?

It's a CM HAF 932. And I have one extra fan mounted in the lower part of the 5.25" drive bay. (I didn't notice till now that you can see the safety wire I used to suspend that fan - on the right side of the pic...)

Thanks

They've got my business.
