The motherboard that Newegg has on special is the KT800-based Chaintech; not a bad board for stock speeds or very mild O/C, but the NF3-250 Chaintech is a much better board.

Agreed, nice set up

How do the Hitachi drives compare to some of the other big name HD brands?

Eventually. They'll release more CPUs for it first, making it their "budget" solution.

Intel released a new chipset too, but people are buying older boards instead of the LGA ones, last time I checked. Older chipsets offer a good value for the money.

Sounds like a good choice then. Might want to go with a Samsung vs a Hitachi Deathstar though, I've had to RMA 2 of them, plus the Samsung has a 3 year warranty out of the box.

I would personally go for a Samsung 955DF over that NEC, but whatever. Either way it's a good deal.

Nitemare, the Samsungs are awesome drives as well. Actually, SilentPCReview uses them as their benchmark drives. Only $10 more for the Samsung SATA.

Samsung also has a 997DF out now, does higher resolutions at better refresh rates, and it looks cooler too. $199 at BB.

That's a good setup...the only thing I'd change is get a gig of RAM, and try to get on one of those $.50/gig deals on hard drives that pop up every once in a while. For an "anytime" build, though, that one is very good.

All these quotes are forgetting to include WindowsXP. Home is like $87 and pro $140

There are many GTs that won't make Ultra specs, esp the ram.

Well here are a few that did.

For real? They're the same person? It's a girl?

Well I guess that config will never see the light of day.

Disregard all my other posts; it's as easy as Dell.
