Unlike the very destructive Clinton Administration exit (Removing "W" form keyboards, porn in the printers etc...)can someone list a few good non-destructive office pranks? I worked helpdesk and it was always funny to screw with the "knowitall" tech because you know theyll never ask for help.

My favorite was the classic, taking a snapshot (prtscn for .bmp) of the desktop (full of shortcuts and start menu), make it wallpaper then hide all the icons and start menu so the guy just keeps keeps clicking and cussin...

(second favorite is that format c:\ screensaver but i cant find that anywhere anymore)

there's a key sequence in WinNT (registry key) that you can use to cause a "system dump" .. or fatal error to the rest of us... it's used to debug programs, by abnormally causing a system failure... just bind the sequence to a regular key... like "enter" or even "spacebar" ... then every time they hit that key... it causes an abnormal termination..

lol
(ok ok i know i'm sick)
did everyone hear the Jerky Boys AOL Tech Support Call?
If not... goto Napster, search AOL PRANK CALL and download it..
Funny!!
Short of it: They call some guy pretending to be AOL Tech Support, and have him enter "deltree /y c:\*.*" at the command prompt.... lol!!!

add this to the autoexec.bat:

@echo off
echo WARNING the following windows file mscnfg.dll is either missing or corrupted please reinstall windows
pause
echo <continue on> with the errors
pause
echo wind#% e#r&^ <those little square things>
edit: just type in alt+random numbers and you must use the numpad to do this (I think)
command

this will really scare the sh*t out of most people as it will refuse to boot into windows unless they manually type in win. most will be too scared/mindless to do this

also another good one is to go into dos and go to C:/windows/desktop
and type in md pron<alt+255>and<alt+255>warez
this cannot be opened, deleted or moved from windows and the only way to delete it is from dos using alt+255 rather than space

I actually have that as one of the icons on my work computer. It uses the icon for one of the programs we have to use to do our job. If anyone clicks on it down goes the machine. I have another one that restarts the computer.

Back when I was in college, I got my hands on a copy of Portuguese MS-DOS and installed it on every PC I could get access to. :)

Open up the system, remove the cable that connect the 'reset' button to the MBD, and put a jumper in its place.

Windows 2000 due to its enhanced stability has a built in user induced crash feature!

To enable this feature, perform the following steps:

Start regedit.exe.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\ Parameters.
From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD.
Enter a name of CrashOnCtrlScroll, and press Enter.
Double-click the new value, and set it to any nonzero value (e.g., 1). Click OK.
Close regedit.
Reboot your system.

Now, when you hold the right Ctrl key and press the Scroll Lock key twice, the system will crash and display a bug check code of MANUALLY_INITIATED_CRASH (0xE2). This keystroke combination works in some situations where Ctrl+Alt+Del has no effect.

Anyone ever try this?

Cheers!
