30 point halftime deficit to win 64-61 in OT. Only scored eight points in the first half.

Marshall vs. ECU in the 2001 GMAC Bowl

From Wikipedia:
The 2001 game between the Marshall Thundering Herd and East Carolina Pirates set the record as the highest scoring bowl game of all time, and Marshall achieved what was then the greatest scoring comeback in Bowl history

in terms of football ManU coming back from 3-1 against IIRC Bayern to win the champions leage scoring 3 goles in like 5 min one or 2 being in time added on to win the tripple was more amazing

Franz Klammer talking about that race

i was lucky enough to be watching this live. i forget if Klammer
is Swiss or Austrian. in any case, he was off-balance, on the
edge of a wipe-out the whole way down. the guy he beat might
be named Bernhard Russi, i forget.

just wish i could find a video of the actual skiing performance !

* Oilers-Buffalo game in 1992

the Oilers were up 28-3. Buffalo came back with five touchdowns
and i think got most of the extra points.

* Andy Irons, Pipe Masters, 2006

an ultra-competitive final, with Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Cory
Lopez, and Andy Irons. i forget who had a seemingly insurmountable
lead, but it wasn't AI. in the last few minutes, Andy took off on a
wave going left (Pipeline), finished the tube, then took off on a wisp
of foam that no self-respecting seagull would ever have landed on.
somehow, he made that floater, for a 9.87. then he went right
(Backdoor) for a long long tube ride, for a 10. total come from
behind, seal the deal victory.

Video of AI last-minute rides in 2006 Pipe Masters

that video is up temporarily. since the 2007 contest is about
to start, i'm not sure how long it will last

* Moi, Stanford Freshman Dorm, Foosball Game, 1975-1976

we were playing 2 a side Foosball. me and my team-mate
were down 9-0. we came back and won, 10-0.

that was before the Internet. Heck, it was practically before
the wheel !

I remember some foozball games that that happened in. I usually always play d in a 2 man and one time we were down 9-0 and said f'it then I switched to O and we got 10 straight to win it.

Maryland - Miami 1984, Miami was up 31-0 at halftime

shouldn't that be 10-9?

True story.

When I was in 8th grade, we had some sort of local track event where all the kids of the school were herded to the track to watch our track team compete. I've never thought track events are all that exciting, but something happened during one of the races that I'll never forget.

It was a girls race, and I think it was 1/4 mile. The race began, and the girls got into a rhythm as they ran their way around the track. A little more than halfway through the race, one of the girls began to drop out and slow down, finally stopping completely while she gasped and heaved to catch her breath. Her competitors didn't stop, and continued to make their way to the finish line. I think everybody in the stands agonized a little for the poor girl who wasn't able to finish the race. Even though she was on the opposite side of the track, it was obvious that she was distraught with failure.

Then suddenly, a surge of energy must have hit her; she lifted her head and began running again, and running fast. Although her competitors were way in the lead, she basically sprinted almost half the track. Against all odds, she blew past her competitors and won the race by a close lead.

I don't remember her name or anything else about her, but that's one of those inspiring things that I think about sometimes when I'm down.

Lance Armstrong in the 2003 Tour de France

Tightest Tour in Lance's career, tough mountain stage, last climb, surrounded by all his rivals... his bike's handlebar is caught in a spectator's bag, Lance goes down! He gets back on the bike, which, IIRC, suffered a broken chainstay and not only caught his rivals (who as good sportsmen didn't attack), but later dropped them to take the win.

Moi, many times, on the bball court

I used to play a lot of pick-up ball when I was in grad school. I and this older guy played a lot of 2-on-2 where we'd be down, in a game to 15, 13-4 or so, then say, "enough is enough" and win. Good times. :D
