Best Color Laser Printer under $1000?

Staples has some good prices on the Minolta Magic Color 2300w here for $700 w/$200 rebate but I've heard of some poor reviews....does anyone use this model? How does it compare to an HP 1500L for $700here?

Opinions appreciated.

I have the 2300DL - I think its great. Print look excellent in BW and color. No problems with it. I don't know anything about the 2300W. There were deals to be had on the DL in the hot deals forum, but I don't know if they've expired.

I would avoid the 1500, it's a host based printer with no formatter, connects only via USB, & requires a Windows based OS (and maybe mac) to run.

Spend the extra for the 2500 if you're going to get an HP.

Difference between the Minolta 2300W and 2300DL is just the network adapter. The DL2300 has it, the 2300W doesn't. (I'd think you could pick up a 3rd part network printer addapter for the Minolta with the rebate on the 2300W and still come out on top).

kind-of-blue, don't worry too much about a network adapter. You can get a cheap network print server that can connect directly to any printer's parallel port for $45-$65.

My only complaint about the 2300 is that its optional duplexer is $400. That a freaking ton of money just to get automated 2-sided printing, especially when compared to $500 for the printer itself ($699 - $200 rebate).
