Best clock ratios when overclocking?

I can go from 250/500 to 320/625 on my GeForce 4 Ti 4200, but sometimes upping the clocking just slows it down... does anyone have any suggestions, tips, tricks?

other than my freak score I posted about Im running at 97XX anywhere after 290/590
