Double Dribble, the dunks ;)

I remember the Diablo 2 cinematics really impressing me when that game came out. I extracted the videos, converted them and placed them on a DVD with a menu and chapters (I was really into learning about DVD authoring at the time lol).

My roommates probably thought I was such a tool when I had them watch it.

The ones that come to mind is Ace Combat 4 and Thief 2. Graphics dont have to be fancy for its time...and the cinematics in both games really capture the feeling well.

FFXIII(Full 1080P) and FFXII(720p) are some of the most amazing cut scenes i have seen. Specially FFXIII, you can see their freaking pores for god's sake.

Hellgate: London did definitely have good cinematics. Warhammer Online had a good cinematic too. My personal favorite is the intro to Killzone 2.

The DOW intro was great, but the inner 40k in me is annoyed by a ton of the fluff discrepancies.

My favorite cinematic in a game has to be the ending to Metal Gear Solid 3.

One of the very few cinematic to essentially make me want to tear up. Second would be the ending to FFX.

I can think of more in a bit.

Indeed...

I mean one Space Marine could have in most likelihood wiped out that entire Ork force in the intro. To lose a Dreadnaught with Assault Cannon and a Predator would be almost unheard of except against the hardiest and plentiful of foes.

That's why the Dawn of War II intro 'slightly' pips the Dawn of War 1 in my book.

Homeworld... can't really class this as a cinematic I guess. The whole introduction, first mission, second mission and return to your 'homeworld' is just amazing. The sum of it's parts is what makes it so awe inspiring, emotional and other exciting, descriptive words.

FF VII when emerald weapons first attacked the town.

Emerald weapon never attacked anything. It was Ultima Weapon.

Emerald and Ruby couldnt have any story parts because they were special add-ons for the American version. The Japanese never saw them.
Which is probably just as well cuz they were so annoying you could go insane just thinking about them.

yes it did, look at about 1:30 in this vid, comes out of water and attacked town, then gets shot with big gun and goes underwater where you can fight him later
