That's totally editted in Adobe Premier or something like it.

There are people who pull this kind of stuff off all the time. Ask GeekDrew for details on extremely expensive programmable christmas light programs and clubs for folks who do so.

Coming to a neighborhood near you! ¬¬

<sigh> STILL downloading. 2.1 KB/sec. 34% complete.

I'm a bit anxious... if this is the video I'm thinking about, it's the display of a friend of mine.

Besides a bit of a crappy video, yes done at night, can't help that. But the music timed to it? Bit suspicious. Now, if that music is ALSO pumped outside along with those lights? FFS. NO.

Hah, beat me Nik, just looking at it with no music, it would drive me crazy after awhile. It might attract a UFO or something.

UFO's aren't particularly attracted to the electromagnetic spectra emitted by sequentially fired merry midget lamps.

omg is the music for real as well??

I dunno if it's actually being played in the neighborhood, but I'd imagine the music was edited in. If it were playing on some crappy boombox, it would sound absolutely horrible.

I don't think it would be too far out there to rule out he has some sort of outdoors system hooked up. I mean if he can afford/have the time to set up lights like that, I would think he could've been just as capable of setting up the music and timing it right with some nice outdoor equipment.

Oh I'm sure it would be a huge benefit to have the music playing -but not in that video. It would have sounded like ****** having a digicam (with ****** microphone, mind you) across the street listening to music loud enough to come through that loud and that clear without violating noise ordinances and such.

... mirror was responding even slower than the original, so I aborted the mirror, and kept the original going...

I'm up to all of 54% lol

Yeah that would annoy the neighbors if a decent PA system was fitted so the music was audible a mile away.

Easiest way to fire these is use standard strings and controllers. I cannot believe this was done with those dumb sets you see that blink on and off. Some even play xmas tunes through a small piezoelectric speaker. :rill;

Having not yet watched the movie: I know plenty of people that put up massive christmas light displays, that have speakers throughout their displays, and the lights are sequenced to the music (at least in some displays, subdisplays, or subdisplay routines).

Also, it's trivial to connect line out from an external source (read: sync PC) to a sound mixer or what have you in order to record a synchronized streaming video.

The trick is to use multiple speakers, at a lower volume, closer to the audience. It doesn't disturb the neighbors as much, and if the audience wants to hear it, they can.

FM broadcasting is another option that some people take.

HAHAHA LOL that rules! roflmao!

That's so cool. I hope it goes off every other hour 'till 9 or 10pm, and then it has just standard lights in btwn. Hopefully he has like a boombox outside that plays it every other hour.

lol

Right, I thought of that too. However, it's a crappy digital videocam and it's all the way across the street. 😛
