Assuming you want an out-of-the-box solution:

And, of course, you can save some if you want to build it yourself. 😉

Easiest way to fire these is use standard strings and controllers. I cannot believe this was done with those dumb sets you see that blink on and off. Some even play xmas tunes through a small piezoelectric speaker. :rill;

The trick is to use multiple speakers, at a lower volume, closer to the audience. It doesn't disturb the neighbors as much, and if the audience wants to hear it, they can.

FM broadcasting is another option that some people take.
