Look at the P4X400 when it comes out. It will have a updated southbridge and the newwer north bridge.

I have always run VIA chipsets and if you use a OS other then Win XP you will have to install the 4in1's and maybe some patchs, but that was because Windows was in bed with Intel. Now that microsoft supports VIA it even easier to setup a VIA board.

I have used just about every VIA chipset from MVP all the way to KT266a. I am waiting for the KT400 now, but for intel people wait for the P4X400

If u have unlimited funds, get 850e and PC1066. Sure PC1066 is supposedly is on its way out, but so what? Its the fastest today.

However, I do have to admit ,current PC1066 prices make it very tough to say go for it over DDR. I would get an EPoX 4G4A with 845G and 256Megs of PC2700 DDR and you will have a setup thats close to 850e:) LMK if u could use some more advice:)

IMHO there isn't a best chipset. They all bring something different and it's just a matter of personal preference and in which bed you sleep.

If you an Intel loving fanboy then go with SiS or 850e

If you're an AMD lovebird then go with VIA

If you hate Intel and VIA then go with nForce or nForce2

Thanks guys. You are all giving good advice,850e,845g,sis,via,are all good at the moment.850e is the way to go but memory...., Via p4x400 is very nice but stability after OC not sure ,845g is the one i like but no agp8x/ddr333 official support OC ok,sis is same as intel but not a long history reliability wise.I think i would buy 850e and p4x400 both.(agp8x.....):)thanks again guys.
